I’ve been toying with the idea of using our old cast iron claw foot bath and making an outdoor heated bath in our garden.
Anyway, along the way my research has brought up a range of cool products and ideas for outdoor baths.
This is from a Christchurch company, I quite like the idea of the walls around it for a bit of privacy and shelter. In the right context it could make for a very nice “outdoor room” feel.
It runs on a Bosch flow gas heater, and is an Englefield acrylic tub with an Oregon decking case surround.
If you want to know more about them check out their website at http://www.thegreatbathcompany.co.nz/
The second product I’ve come across is the Dutch Tub.
The Dutch Tub is a mobile bath which you can almost take anywhere… well that’s what the photo gallery on their website implies, but I suspect you need a wee bit of space to transport it round.
http://www.duravit.com/ also have a tub called the “Sundeck” which is an outdoor bath that doubles as seating when you’re not bathing.
I’m still trying to figure out the best way to heat an outdoor tub when Environment Canterbury prevents outdoor fires being lit about 90% of the year in the city.
